Each year, Men’s Health Forum runs a week-long campaign to improve the awareness and health of men across the UK. The theme for this year’s Men’s Health Week is ‘Take Action on Covid-19’. It will take place the week before Father’s Day, from 15 June 2020.
As part of the campaign, MHF is publicising information on the coronavirus pandemic and the result it has on men. Current statistics suggest men are twice as likely to die of Covid-19 than women.
Covid-19 also has a significant impact on victims of domestic abuse. Their physical well-being and mental health are at increased risk as a result of lockdown. As there are fewer opportunities to reach out for support and prolonged periods of isolation being spent with abusive partners, victims of any gender are at risk.
The AMIS helpline is operating as usual to support male victims of domestic abuse in Scotland. Our team are working from home as they continue to operate a high-quality, confidential service.
MHF have a collection of printable posters to share in local communities that are free to download to raise awareness. AMIS also have a selection of resources.
We also have more information on the impact of domestic abuse on mental health.
