Update from Iris, AMIS Services Manager
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2020 from our new office base at 525 Ferry Road, a big thank you to EVOC for making this happen. It’s been a very busy and challenging period for AMIS which has required some changes to working hours and practices BUT we will keep the Helpline open Monday to Friday 09:00-16:00.
First of all, we would like to thank all of those who have given so generously of their time and money to help keep this service going. In particular, thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets in the run-up to Christmas. We managed to raise around £800 and a huge thank you to itison for donating the prize vouchers.
We would like to thank those who give regularly every month through our Virgin Giving page. For example, a regular donation of,£5 per month, in a year that means £60, enough to pay for the helpline phone charges for 2 months. The details of how individuals can help us are given below. Whether it be by a regular or one-off donation, through the Virgin page or registering to give us the benefit of purchases you make online, AMIS will benefit from every penny. Spend a couple of minutes to register with Amazon through Amazon Smile or with Easy Fundraising to benefit us from any of your online shopping. There are lots of ways to help with very little effort.
We must thank The Robertson Trust for their continuing support and the generosity of other funders such as Cruden Foundation; Foyle Foundation and Ann Rylands to name a few, as well as some very generous donations. This has allowed us to make up the match fund required by The Robertson Trust and provides us with just enough to pay for the helpline support worker to the end of the year.
Other exciting news is we recently featured on BBC Radio 4’s “The Untold” and the response has been quite overwhelming. Again, a massive thank you to everyone who offered support and donated to us through our Virgin Money Giving page. Your generosity is second to none!
We will be holding another fundraising Comedy Night at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh. No details confirmed as yet so watch this space. We are also looking for teams to support AMIS in the upcoming Kiltwalk and Forth Rail Bridge Abseil fundraising events. Details further down.
Thank you on behalf of everyone at AMIS and all the men we support.
Iris Quar, Services Manager

The Search for a Treasurer
AMIS is currently going through an exciting period of transition within the organisation. We are re-evaluating our approach, mission and strategy for the next three years. We need skilled individuals to help us with this journey.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation. Members of the Board bring a fresh approach to the charity, committed to giving their time and support to help move the AMIS into this new development. To complete our Board, we are looking for a treasurer.
The organisation’s office is based in Edinburgh and there are approximately 6 meetings a year.
