People from the LGBT+ community are just as protected by the law as heterosexual and cisgender people. There is no legitimate reason why Police Scotland would not support or assist an LGBT+ domestic abuse victim.

In 2018-19, Police Scotland statistics show that 2% of reported incidents of domestic abuse had a victim and accused of the same gender. The number of reported incidents were similar for male and female same-sex incidents:
