Domestic abuse can affect anyone, regardless of sex, gender identity, age or sexual orientation. We want to live in a Scotland that is free of abuse. The below list contains different community groups, organisations and services that you may find beneficial.

Local Services

  • ASSIST – A free specialist domestic abuse advocacy and support service based in Glasgow focused on reducing risk, increasing safety and improving the wellbeing of all domestic abuse victims.
  • Citizen’s Advice Scotland – A national service with six locations across Glasgow that offer free advice on a range of issues.
  • FearFree – Provides tailored support, information and advice for men and LGBTQI+ men in Glasgow.
  • First Psychology – Glasgow based counselling and therapy center with list of male focused interventions.

Community Groups

  • Andys Man Club – A national men’s support group with meetings in Scotstoun, Kelvin Hall or Kilsyth Community Library on Monday evenings at 7pm.
  • Dads Rock – A dads support group offering a monthly playgroup meet up’s, antenatal and children’s hairstyle workshops based at the Easterhouse Sports Centre and online.
  • Men With Issues (M.W.I) – A men’s mental health group meeting every Friday between 7.30-9pm at Anderson Maguire, 15-17 Hamilton Street, Polmadie, Glasgow, G42 0PL.
  • https://mindthemen.co.uk/#joinaclub – Men’s suicide prevention peer support group meeting every Monday’s 7-9pm at Dundasvale Community Hall and Hillhead Sports Club or online zoom. You can also join their walking group, football team, gold tournament, mindfulness sessions and CBT. 

  • The Male Journey – A men’s group which draws on spiritual traditions meets at 7pm on the second Friday of each month. The group meet outdoors gathering around a fire in Pollock Park or in bad weather undercover at the Dumbreck Stables.
  • Men’s Shed – Nationwide initiative with numerous Glasgow sheds for men to develop social connections and learn new skills (Gorbles, Shettleston, Govan, Pollockshaws, Rutherglen, Springburn, Paisley, Barrhead, Clydebank, Bearsden, East Kilbride, Coatbridge, Hamilton). 
  • Menself – Glasgow East End based charity raising awareness and improving men’s health and wellbeing through their ‘MOT 4 Men’ initiative, weekly men’s support groups, football, health walks and yoga activities. 
  • Men Matter – Drumchapel based positive support network for men with drop-in social and development group activities to address mental, emotional, physical and social health.
  • LGBTHealth – Different events, health interest, support services & activities aimed at LGBT people in Glasgow.
  • WhatsOnGlasgow – Many different social and interest groups across Glasgow.

National Services

AMIS also operates a helpline for any man across Scotland to get advice and information if they are experiencing domestic violence. As well as our services, there is also a range of national services that may be beneficial to men across Scotland. Check out the list of national services.
