Domestic abuse can affect anyone, regardless of sex, gender identity, age or sexual orientation. We want to live in a Scotland that is free of abuse. The below list contains different community groups, organisations and services that you may find beneficial.

Local Services

  • Citizen’s Advice Scotland – a national service with a  central branch in Inverness and one in Ross and Cromarty that offers free advice on a range of issues.
  • Community Violence and Abuse Support Service (COVASS) – Offers a free counselling service to men who seek support for domestic abuse. Provide’s information on housing, benefits, schooling, your rights can liaise with other agencies on your behalf so that any changes or involvement with police, social work does not add to your stress.
  • Victim Support Inverness – advice, information and support for victims of crime including court appearances.

Community Groups

  • Befrienders Highland – Inverness based voluntary service that offers opportunities for voluntary activities or to request a befriending volunteer for anyone in the area.
  • Men’s Shed – a national initiative for men to socialise and engage in activities
  • Mens Only Project– a range of outdoor and walking activities in the Highlands
  • Mikeysline – Inverness based mental health and crisis support centre offering face-to-face or online meetings also outreach to other Highland areas. Offers text based support including text message, Facebook Messenger, What’s app and web chat. 

National Services

AMIS also operates a helpline for any man across Scotland to get advice and information if they are experiencing domestic violence. As well as our services, there is also a range of national services that may be beneficial to men across Scotland. Check out the list of national services.
